Elmdale Tennis Club

FAQs

I’m a new member, how do I find a game?

For new members we have many ways to play and meet other members. The following are all free except the clinics.

1. Round Robins

The club steward on duty will organize randomized doubles games, changing up the groupings every 30 minutes for 2 hours. Wednesday mornings at 10:30am, Thursday evenings at 6:00pm, and Sunday evenings at 6:00pm. Sign-up ahead on Court Reserve.

2. Ladder

Please refer to the Tennis & Social Events section of the website for more info.

3. Sign Up Sheet

Put your name on our list of ‘Looking for a match’ sheets on the bulletin board in the clubhouse (to the right of the washrooms) and call or email others on the list who are around your level.

4. Talk to the Steward!

Talk to the steward on duty.  The stewards know many of the players at the club and know who would be a good level opponent, who is looking for more people to play with, and can help facilitate match play between members.

5. Email info@elmdale.ca

Send us an email with your information if you are having trouble finding others to play with and we ca speak with you directly to help you find matches against others your level.

6. Clinics and Programs

Our Pros at the club, Chris Halliday and Mariya Toncheva,  offer a variety of clinics/programs throughout the season for players of all levels. Please visit the Pro section of this website for further details

Elmdale has HarTru clay courts, and because of this we require that members have shoes with a non-aggressive sole. Clay tennis shoes are perfect, but if you don’t have any, shoes with a flat bottom are acceptable (such as ‘skater shoes’).

Please review our online booking section of the website.

Guests can play at the club by paying a guest fee ($20 +  tax/Guest).  The guest can play for the full day and do this up to 5 times a season.

To find out if the courts are open after a rain fall, please check Court Reserve, your email for a cancellation notification, or call the club at 613-729-3644. The courts can stay open with a light rain, but after a heavy rain the courts will be closed for a few hours. The length of time varies quite a lot and is dependent on the amount of sun and wind. If it rains after the sun has gone down, the courts will be closed until the following day.

Elmdale Tennis Club is a licensed establishment and serves a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as a number of snacks at our canteen to fuel you on the court!

If you still have questions then stop by the club or give us a call to get your question answered.

Parking for the ETC is available on the surrounding streets. City parking by-laws are strictly enforced.
